I always feel a bit weird posting videos because there’s such a striking contrast in quality between them and the rest of the content of my blog — I like to think I’m a pretty good writer, but I know I write well at the very least, and all my photos are taken with my DSLR and carefully edited. Then I post a video I filmed with the built-in camera on my laptop (the only one I have available, and iMovie won’t recognize it now so I have to shoot in Photo Booth) and the questionable quality hits me in the face. And I feel like it drags the whole blog down with it. Is that weird? Either way I don’t want my only post on a given day to be one I feel drags the quality of my blog down, so I’m posting something else as well. Helps that I had it shot and edited already!

This was a bit of a frustrating shoot in that most of the pictures turned out unusable, and in the middle of that I had to deal with waiting an hour for someone to finish going through her pics at my photo lab — past the lab delivery deadline, which means I’ll be getting my prints on Monday instead of Friday, and I was looking forward to making some cards this weekend. I frame and duplicate all my photos at home so it takes two seconds to place an order through the photo lab’s software; why can’t everybody else? Grr.
As for the pics, I’ve mentioned before that my mom is a pretty bad photographer — and she’s the best I have, so imagine how bad every other option is. But yesterday her ability to focus on anything but me was out of control: a car, a truck, a street sign, an elderly lady walking five feet behind me, the wall… I nearly always find myself fixing full-body pics through sharpening and blurring selectively in Photoshop, but, as you can see, this time there was only the one salvageable one. Everything else was a lost cause.
Now that I’ve written three off-topic paragraphs, here are some thoughts about this outfit: I put on makeup! Woo hoo. I’ve been awfully lazy about that this year. I even tried a smokey eye, which looked half like I’d been punched and half pretty sexy, actually, but then I put glasses on and the effect was totally lost. I meant to shoot a couple of pics without glasses, but… I love the way these glasses look on me. Techy bookworm chic! That’s a thing because I say it is.
The highlight is definitely the jewelry, though. All beautiful pieces from Etsy. You should check out those shops — it’s why I always link to them.
So that’s 3 outfits down, 27 to go. Off to a slow start, but it’s still hot enough to wear dresses without tights outside, so I’ve got plenty of time.
