I have an overshooting problem. I’m sorry! I just can’t help myself. For some reason, when I’m editing photos, I always feel like there aren’t enough good ones, and then I go rename the files something meaningful and I realize I wound up with 21, and I love them all. Or at least I like them all about the same. Narrowing them down, however minimally, is a painful process.
Anyway, this is my second outfit for the 30×30 remix challenge! I can already tell I’m going to be relying quite heavily on accessories to inspire me. Where Ready to Fall had a braided floral crown from The Evergreen Nest, The Roaring Blues features a beautiful made-to-measure cloche hat by the amazing Nadine of hiddenNZ. I’m obsessed with cloche hats, and I’m still over the moon about having not one but two (sidebar pic!) that are gorgeous and season-nonspecific (warm for winter — and deliberately warm over the ears — but completely comfortable in September, too!) and fit my tiny head perfectly.
Skirt: Pimkie (old) | Tube dress: Etsy trade (store closed) | Flats: Local | Cloche hat: hiddenNZ | Glasses: Zennioptical | Earrings: Julie Ellyn Designs
My original idea was to wear the tube dress over the skirt, but for a really really junior-sizing-really short dress (you’ll see just how short when I wear it as a dress at some point this month — I mean, I already did; I had to make a run for cat food after I’d changed and I didn’t bother with the flats or the hat or the skirt, but I didn’t get pictures), it covered a lot of the skirt and looked rather shapeless. The skirt felt loose as well. When I tucked it in, the skirt sat just right on my natural waist and the dress kept its lovely bubble effect (there’s gotta be a name for that; any of you know what it’s called?).
I felt really cute and I’m really happy with this outfit. I’d probably never have put it together if not for this challenge, so I’ve already got something good out of it! I sort of wanted to wear a necklace, either a very short or a very long one, but my jewelry shelf is a bit of a mess and the things I tried on didn’t fall right over my chest or dress. There’s my challenge for the next time I put it on: find a necklace (or light cowl, or headband that can be worn around the neck, or fabric scarf) that complements this dress. I’m sure I’ve got something somewhere.
Any tips for matching jewelry to tricky necklines? I’d love to see any outfit posts you’ve made wearing strapless dresses or tops!
