Home & Living Pretty Things

Etsy Picks #1: The Pink Rose Palette

posted on December 25, 2014

I’ve been selling on Etsy for some time now — two years this month with my photography shop, a little over a year with the branding and design one. Before I started this blog, I was really active in the Etsy community, the teams and forums. That fell by the wayside over time for various reasons, but that time getting to know the site and the amazing creative people that sell on it instilled in me a love for carefully, lovingly handcrafted quality, and a desire to support fellow small business owners who are doing their best to live off what they love.

With that in mind, I’ve decided to bring back an old feature on this blog, Friday Loves – which later turned into Pretty Things, and which is now going to be called Etsy Picks, except for the times I include things from other platforms. I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. The subcategory will still be Pretty Things, because it’s a good umbrella term for all of it.

Congratulations on continuing to kill it on Etsy with both your shops! And ugh, pretty things. They get me every time.

My favorite is definitely the beanie of your picks above. So much love.

Thanks! I don’t know if I’m killing it, and I keep going back and forth on whether I want to push my Etsy photography print shop – I haven’t sold anything in ages – but the design shop DOES do well on there.

      • Jen Hsieh

It doesn’t hurt to push it, you know? You can try selling your photography in themed packages that people can display together. :)

I used to have a couple of those. I have so, so many photos to put up – and phone cases and whatnot. I’m always concerned about listing fees piling up, I guess. It’s not that much in the grand scheme of things, but it is a lot when you’re not making enough to pay rent and eat. I actually opened shops on Crated and RedBubble, which let you list things for free, but I do much prefer Etsy. I just wish they didn’t have listing fees. The percentage on sales should be plenty.

Ah, I didn’t even realize they had listing fees – that’s a little ridiculous if they’re also going to take a percentage of your sales. Woof.

That felt acorn + mouse is adorable!

Isn’t it? It’s been in my favorites for ages.
