Style / Stormy Weather

Style / Stormy Weather - Lix Hewett

It didn’t rain when I was in London in September until the very last minute — it literally started as Annemari and I waited for the bus to Liverpool Street Station for the train to the airport. Meanwhile, two hours in Barcelona and we got a serious fucking storm falling on us.

Judging by the photos, you wouldn’t be able to tell how much it affected my head — I still got loads of them. The next day was much better for me. This one, however, has the sea going for it.

I didn’t grow up by the sea; I don’t have that kind of connection that so many pretentious assholes people claim to have to the ocean. I’ve never felt I couldn’t live far from the ocean because, hell, I’ve been doing exactly that for twenty-six years. Honestly, it’s just a lot of water, and humidity, and I can’t even swim.

And yet. As Annemari and I walked to the ocean, my mood went from ‘mildly stable’ to ‘giddy like a five-year-old;’ my energy grew and I started smiling and by the time we were overlooking the sea from a little ways away, I was ready to dance.

ASOS dress (this one) / ASOS espadrilles / SpecsPost glasses c/o / vintage bag (similar)

Kind of can’t wait to do another beach shoot. I don’t want another seven years to go by before I next see the sea.

(oh yes it feels like love, love love)

I’m so in love with that dress! It’s such a pretty pattern.

I live near the sea by myself but oh god I can’t stand pretentious people. I just know that when I briefly moved to the outskirts of London many moons ago, I had move back to the coast just because I missed the sea air!

Isn’t it lovely? I’m SO picky with floral patterns (90% of them look like drab curtains to me) but I saw this one and was like, “omg pretty! Non-repetitive! Actual color!” and was SOLD.

Ah, I sort of get you though. When I was in Barcelona I kept thinking about the logistics of moving there and like, I honestly didn’t like the city that much, I was pretty 50/50 on it, so my entire reason for wanting to move was the way the ocean made me feel! So I can’t throw stones. ;)

I love the last photo. Most bloggers pose the typical look-off-to-the-side-at-nothing-in-particular pose, but the last one definitely has a personal touch haha.

I was never a beach person either! I think people tend to hype up beaches because of the summer season, so it always seemed like a blah place to me, but recently, I’ve been so pumped to go to the beach. I think beaches just bring out a very youthful, playful attitude in me!

I love looking at nothing at particular, but I love being ridiculous too. :) I want to start doing link love posts so I can randomly include outtakes from my posts! (And by ‘outtake’ I mean ‘I totally posed for this picture, but the pose is questionable as hell.’)

Ohh, that’s EXACTLY how I feel too. I have no love lost for the idea of going to a crowded beach in summer and sitting my ass down among all the tourists, but being near the ocean just makes me feel so good and happy!

Ahhh so jealous of these ocean vibes. What a fun and colorful dress – and those shoes! :D
Haha, that last photo is perfect. Looks like you had a lot of fun for sure!

I’m jealous of past me, too. I’m in the middle of Spain now, no ocean in sight! And I felt SO GOOD near it. :)

That dress. Those shoes. Girl, you are rocking it in this outfit (especially in the last picture) and I couldn’t imagine loving it more.

Also, I’m one of those people who are obsessed with the sea and I can’t help it, haha. For me it’s the place I go to whenever I’m feeling down (if I’m able to get there) and it helps me put things into perspective and realize that there are so many things bigger than my problems. Oh Ocean, it’s hard not to resist youuuuu!

I may have been a bit blasé in this post considering Annemari and I were walking down the seafront (we took a less straightforward route to the Sagrada Familia than we'd planned because 1- it was pouring rain and 2- I, er, wanted to stay close to the sea) that day and I kept thinking, 'well I kind of want to move here, this seaside thing is the shit, suddenly I understand Victorian doctors! The ocean air is magic! Could I move here? Hmmmm' so there is that. ;)
